Maine Alert!
Vote YES on Question 1 at the ballot box on March 3rd in Maine
A YES vote on the veto referendum will protect your right to decline vaccines and will repeal a harmful law.
Question 1: People’s Veto
Do you want to reject the new law that removes religious and philosophical exemptions to requiring immunization against certain communicable diseases for students to attend schools and colleges and for employees of nursery schools and health care facilities?
VOTE YES.
On May 24, 2019, Maine’s Governor signed into law a bill that is offensive to health freedom, LD798/HP586, repealing the long-standing Maine religious and philosophical vaccine exemption to government immunization requirements for school attendance. The law would block Maine residents who wish to decline some or all vaccines, from getting education. The repeal sections included broad definitions of school: “any public or private elementary or secondary school in the State” and “any public or private, post-secondary school in the State including, but not limited to colleges, universities, community colleges and schools for the health professions.” The bill also barred adults from being employed in daycare or healthcare services unless they have received all state mandated vaccines.
Unless it is vetoed by Maine voters in a ballot vote on Mar. 3, 2020, the new law will go into effect on Sept. 1, 2021.
On March 3rd, join Mainers to vote for whether or not state health officials will have the power to enforce the requirement of federally recommended vaccines, for every child and adult seeking a school education in Maine. Please vote “Yes on 1” in Maine!!! Your YES is needed to ensure your right to make health care decisions for yourself and your children. Please send this information to all who wish to retain medical decision-making rights.
