OPPOSE AND AMEND CA AB1992
NO LONGER ACTIVE: Bill Passed but Vetoed By Governor
California Assembly Bill 1992 eliminates the personal belief exemption to vaccination for CalWORKs benefit program and is scheduled for a vote in the Senate Human Services Committee tomorrow, Tuesday, June 26. Please take action now to ask committee members to oppose AB 1992 or, at least, amend it to add a conscious/religious belief exemption! Use the information below, from our colleagues at A Voice For Choice Advocacy, to urge your senators to protect the fundamental rights of parental choice and bodily autonomy by opposing or amending AB 1992. Then, click here to send a letter to your California senators, telling them that you oppose AB 1992 as written. You can make a difference for health freedom in less than 10 minutes!
PLEASE MAKE THE FOLLOWING CALLS IMMEDIATELY
If you are or have been on CalWORKs or some other assistance program, please let them know that.
1. Call Asm Chu’s office and ask him to amend the bill to include a conscious/religious belief exemption. (916) 319-2025
2. Call the Senate Human Services Committee and their members and ask him to amend the bill to include a conscious/religious belief exemption or else oppose:
Senator Tom Berryhill (Vice Chair) 916.651.4008
Tell them that AB1992 will eliminate non-medical exemptions for CalWORKs recipients; that CalWORKs could lose all federal funding if this bill passes without a conscious/religious exemption; that the bill is unnecessary with the Good Cause Form that is currently in place; and that AB 1992 would be even worse for CA than SB-277 because homeschool and IEP children are excluded in SB-277 and because AB1992 adds more vaccinations than what is currently mandated for children in daycare, preschool and K-12 because it specifies that the ACIP/CDC “recommendations” would be required.
If passed, AB 1992 would become effective on July 1, 2019 and be implemented by the State Department of Social Services without further legislative review. CALL NOW!!! (Then, send a letter explaining in detail why you oppose AB 1992 as written, here.)
