Help These Five States
Pass Right Refuse Bills
That Are Ready for Final Vote!
At least five states now have
Right to Refuse bills that are
almost over the finish line
to becoming law.
Each state has two houses (Senate and Assembly) that must each vote to pass legislation in their respective houses. The key bills listed below have passed one house and also passed through committee in the second house and are on their way to the second house floor. Hence, they are one vote away from being sent to the Governor to become law. If you live in one of these states, use the links below to take action:
If you have friends or family in any of these states please share!
Arizona
Arizona’s SB1567 prohibits state entities and businesses with government contracts from requiring any person to receive a vaccination for Covid-19 or to possess a Covid-19 immunity passport, or discriminating against any person based on not receiving a vaccination for Covid-19 or failing to possess a Covid-19 immunity passport. Discrimination includes taking action against a person who declines a Covid-19 vaccine based on religious, philosophical, medical, or other reasons. This bill passed the state Senate on March 14, and the House Judiciary Committee recommended passage on March 23. Take Action to help pass this important bill.
Iowa
Iowa’s HF2298 prohibits requiring an immunization against COVID-19 for a person to be enrolled in any licensed child care center, elementary or secondary school, or postsecondary school in Iowa prior to July 1, 2029. This bill passed the House on February 28, and then on March 17 the Senate’s Judiciary Committee recommended passage. Children are among the most vulnerable when it comes to vaccines; Take Action to protect Iowa’s kids.
Mississippi
Mississippi’s HB1509 prohibits state entities from refusing services, health care access, or employment opportunities to a person, or otherwise discriminate against a person, based upon his or her COVID-19 vaccination status or possession of a COVID-19 immunity passport. This bill passed the House on January 27, and then was approved by the Senate Rules Committee on February 28. Take Action to help pass this Right to Refuse bill.
South Carolina
South Carolina’s HB3126 fights back against federal mandates by making it unlawful for the state or any political subdivision thereof to accept any federal funds to enforce an unlawful federal mask mandate or unlawful federal vaccine mandate. This bill passed the House on December 10, 2021 and passed the Senate’s Committee on Finance on March 1. Take Action to help pushback against overreaching federal COVID-19 mandates. Also, support the efforts of the South Carolina Health Coalition.
Tennessee
Last, Tennessee’s HB1871 prohibits governmental entities, local education agencies, schools, and private businesses from adopting or enforcing laws, rules, or practices that fail to recognize natural immunity as providing a level of immune protection that is at least as protective as a COVID-19 vaccine or treat individuals with natural immunity differently than individuals who have received the COVID-19 vaccine. This bill passed the House on March 21, and it passed the Senate’s Health and Welfare Committee on March 23. Support this commonsense Right to Refuse bill and also support the work of the Tennessee Coalition for Vaccine Choice.
