Can you tell USDA no to electronic animal ID?

Dear Colleagues,

Several years ago, you joined FARFA in a letter to USDA objecting to its apparent plans to expand mandatory animal ID.  The agency went quiet for a while but has now come back with a plan that effectively mandates electronic ID for cattle.  Attached is an action alert that we developed in cooperation with other organizations concerned about this mandate on small farmers and ranchers.

The deadline for submitting comments to the USDA is October 5.  I know everyone has a LOT on their plates right now, and I wanted to make sure that this hadn’t slipped under the radar.  You are welcome to use the attached alert in its entirety, or tailor it or borrow pieces – whatever makes it easiest for you to do an alert of your own, if you are able to do one.  If there’s any information I can provide, please let me know.
