Ask Medicare and Medicaid to Expand Options for Insurance Coding and Coverage for Alternative Health

The Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services have put out a Notice of Proposed Rulemaking for insurance coverage and coding issues with comments due by September 14, 2026.  NHFA recommends that the federal government do whatever it can to expand the number and types of coding options for health care insurance coverage in order to give consumers maximum choice in health care. NHFA also strongly recommends that the federal government avoid being confined in their insurance coding system by exclusivity of a private organization’s recommendations such as those of the American Medical Association (AMA) regarding what is the best health care to be covered by insurance. Consumers want and appreciate great medical necessity care.  But they also want and appreciate many other forms of health care and healing.
