As a grandmother deeply committed to the health and freedom of my family and future generations, I am writing to you with a sense of urgency and determination. I recently penned a letter to the children and grandchildren of our country about the unique gift of personal freedoms that we have here. and concern about the erosion of our rights to make our own healthcare choices.

In this letter, (click here to read), I articulated the restrictions and even mandates that limit our own ability to choose what is best for our bodies and well-being. Our organization, National Health Freedom Action, has its sights set on the future, and we are calling on everyone to join together and help

shape our future. I am reaching out to you today on behalf of NHFA to join in protecting health and freedom.

NHFA is dedicated to protecting the rights of individuals to make informed healthcare decisions. Our attorneys provide crucial support to individuals and groups who are getting involved in the movement to protect their freedoms. We help them understand their rights, and their existing state laws and regulations, and then work with them to craft the type of bill they would like to see in their state. Teaching them the legislative process, we assist them in moving a bill through the legislature and passing it into LAW!

I believe laws must be carefully reviewed, revised, and even repealed if necessary, and new laws created, to reflect the development, evolution, and spiritual maturation of a people. It is essential for people to be involved in that lawmaking process, or they will have to live with laws others pass. It has been too easy to abdicate the responsibility for drafting and passing our laws to a small handful of people, but we now find ourselves in a moment in history where our most basic freedoms are under threat by laws passed without foresight for how they might be abused to violate our rights.

To that end, we created National Health Freedom Action in 2001. For over twenty years, our attorneys have worked with state groups to help pass Safe Harbor Practitioner Exemption Laws. These laws create an exemption for complementary and alternative practitioners such as herbalists, homeopaths, traditional naturopaths, Ayurveda practitioners, energy healers, wellness consultants, and many others who provide the care we need so that they can practice legally, without fear of violating the medical practices act in their state, provided that they follow a set of common sense parameters.

Eleven states now have some form of Safe Harbor Law: Minnesota, Rhode Island, California, Louisiana, Idaho, Oklahoma, Arizona (for homeopaths), New Mexico, Colorado, Nevada, and Maine. Currently, Massachusetts, Connecticut, Oklahoma, and Florida are also actively working toward passage.

In 2002, after working to pass the Safe Harbor bill in Minnesota, 146A, our team saw a proposed bill that would amend the Governor’s powers during a health emergency! I thought wow, that is very broad language which would allow the Governor to do pretty much whatever he wants with no limits! So what did we do? We drafted and filed an amendment to that bill, adding language to protect the people of MN’s right to refuse any medical treatment, testing, physical or mental examination, vaccination, participation in experimental procedures and protocols, collection of specimens, and preventive treatment programs even during a public health emergency. And that any quarantine would have to follow due process and be of the least restrictive means. At the time, we didn’t know that MN was the only state to amend their governor’s powers with such protections. And we did not foresee how coercion would be used 20 years later to violate our inalienable right to bodily autonomy. Now we see that many laws need to be changed to make sure that what we saw in 2020 can never happen again. It will not be easy or fast, but it is urgent work. Policies that infringe on our rights as individuals to make our own health decisions must be countered with protective solutions.

In 2021, National Health Freedom Action (NHFA), along with a small group of health freedom leaders from CA, VT, and MA, envisioned the Right to Refuse project to support those people working to protect the constitutional right of each person to decline countermeasures such as testing, tracking and mandated medical treatments or procedures during a health emergency.

The RightToRefuse.org website is a national tool to educate people about all the “good” bills that protect bodily autonomy across the nation. NHFA attorney Steven O’Connor tracks all bills related to protecting bodily autonomy, stopping mandates and passports, and protecting people from unwanted medical and genetic procedures. It can also help you find the group in your state working on Right to Refuse legislation so you can get involved in the effort!

NHFA attorneys are assisting groups across the nation.

Each state group is like a garden and our job is to nurture that garden so it can grow and succeed in protecting health freedom for our children and grandchildren.

The NHFA team cannot continue their vital work without your support.

Your generous donation will enable us to advocate for health freedom policies, provide attorney support, and empower individuals to assert their rights to refuse unwanted medical interventions. Your contribution will help us continue to empower individuals to engage in the work for health freedom and bodily autonomy in their own communities. Together, we can ensure a future where our children and grandchildren have the freedom to make their own healthcare choices and live healthy, fulfilling lives. Please join me in supporting National Health Freedom Action today.

On behalf of the entire NHFA team we are forever grateful for your support.

Sincerely,
Diane Miller, JD, NHFA co-founder and Policy Advisor
