Minnesota Legislators Attempt to Repeal Vaccine Exemptions, Ignoring Parental Rights and Potential Risks of the MMR Vaccine

Take Action and Send a Message to OPPOSE Minnesota House Bill 3239/ SF 3439 or any amendment to existing bills that attempt to repeal Minnesota’s conscientiously held belief exemption to the MMR vaccine for all daycare, public, private and homeschool children in Minnesota. In addition to sending your message, please call your own legislator and ask them to oppose this effort. You can find your legislator by clicking here.

These bills put in jeopardy the health freedom and parental rights of parents to make important medical decisions for their children.

Minnesota law has a longstanding trust and support of parental rights in a parent’s decision regarding childhood vaccines. The conscientiously held belief exemption is a fundamental pillar of health freedom and parental rights in Minnesota.

Minnesota parents are perfectly capable of making hard decisions for the medical care of their children. And when it comes to vaccines, it is no different. It is a medical fact that vaccines carry significant risks, and it is up to the parents to discern which vaccines to use, when and how often.

Legislators need to respect parental wishes because the parents are the ones responsible for the care of their children. And if a child is injured by a vaccine, they are the ones that care for the child for the rest of their life. It is their decision.

A recent report from the National Vaccine Information Center states that: As of March 28, 2025, there have been 116,255 reports of measles-vaccine reactions, hospitalizations, injuries, and deaths following measles vaccinations made to the federal Vaccine Adverse Events Reporting System (VAERS), including 572 related deaths, 9,046 hospitalizations, and 2,217 related disabilities. Approximately 50 percent of those adverse events occurred in children under three years old.

Vaccination is a parental decision, not a decision to be made by government. Minnesota parents need to be trusted and honored in their parental roles.
